Bringing home a puppy is exciting, but there is plenty to organise. Which vaccinations come next? What parasite protection do they need? When should they start puppy school? And how do you make their first groom a positive experience?

Five Dock Veterinary Hospital and The Pet Salon have teamed up to make those early steps easier. The Complete Puppy Starter Pack combines essential veterinary care, early training and confidence-building grooming, with practical guidance to help you care for your puppy at home.

Five Dock Veterinary Hospital

  • Two vaccination consultations, including vaccines

    A full health check at each visit, helping you keep your puppy's early care on track. This component is designed for puppies who have already received their first vaccination.

  • Three months of NexGard Spectra

    Monthly parasite protection covering fleas, ticks, heartworm and common intestinal worms, as described in the veterinary offer. Your vet will confirm suitability for your puppy.

  • Four-week puppy school

    Led by veterinary nurse Sabrina, covering socialisation, handling and basic training, with grooming tips from The Pet Salon team.

The Pet Salon

  • Visit one: Puppy Introduction

    A gentle first grooming experience, once your puppy has completed their initial vaccination course and is cleared by their vet. This includes a bath, an introduction to blow-drying, paw tidy, nail trim, hygiene tidy, gentle eye and face tidy, and a gradual introduction to grooming equipment and handling.

  • Visit two: First Full Groom

    Approximately two to three weeks after the first visit, with the groom tailored to your puppy's coat, age and comfort level. Both grooming visits must be completed within four weeks of the first grooming appointment.

  • Take-home grooming toolkit

    A slicker brush, grooming comb and Puppy Grooming Homework Guide, so you can practise gentle brushing and handling between appointments.

Important information

  • The veterinary offer is valid until 1 January 2027.
  • The veterinary pack is for puppies who have already received their first vaccination.
  • Grooming visits can begin only after the puppy has completed its initial vaccination course and has veterinary clearance for grooming environments.
  • The grooming package is designed for reasonably maintained, knot-free coats. Significant tangles or matting may require additional time and charges, or changes to the grooming plan.
  • Grooming sessions may be adjusted, shortened or stopped if a puppy becomes overwhelmed or uncomfortable. Puppy wellbeing comes first.
  • Both grooming visits must take place within four weeks of the first grooming appointment.
  • Package prices are listed for puppies up to 5 kg and 6–10 kg. For other weights, please enquire for a quote.
  • Package inclusions and appointment availability will be confirmed by the two businesses before booking.
